No, honestly, this show was THEE staple of my formative-adolescent mind. Hit me right at the cusp of innocence-to-pubescence, going from elementary to junior high. I totally remember Dave, Frank, and Travis’ escapades (does anyone remember the New Orleans episode where they streaked??) The theme song crystallized in my head and I can sing it on cue ‘ not that it matters because most people I know have neevr heard of this show. Never knew of its ghastly consequences on society and all the jackassed cum laude to come. Jackass, Tom Green’ didn’t even hold a candle.
I’m sure if I watched it now (what, with all this oversubmergence in reality-show fiascos) Buzzkill will look like a lame horse waiting to be shot. But boyyy I tell you, at the TIME it came out I was ENTHRALLED.
Whatever- the only two good MTV shows in the summer of 96 were this one and Oddville, MTV. Good enough to start my own RELIGION in the summer before middle school. It’s more than tragic that I may very well be the only fan in america. There isn’t even a fansite!

I used to watch this show during my freshmen year of high school (1996-1997). Some of my favorite episodes were ‘Bigfoot’, ‘Whack my car for a buck!’ and I remember the episode where Frank was posing as Issac Mizrahi at some premiere party. It’s funny ralph lauren polo , because years ago I saw an interview with Issac Mizrahi where he was saying that people come up to him and go, ‘Your the dude from Buzzkill.

Life in a Day is the result of director Kevin MacDonald’s plea to the YouTube community to record one day of their lives ‘ July 24th, 2010 ‘ with the ultimate aim of patching them all together. The call was heard, and 80,000 videos were submitted for selection, totalling 4,500 hours of raw footage. At this point it is compulsory to give mad props to the editor ‘ Joe Walker.
The footage was eventually cut down to the 90 minute feature that is garnering raves from reviewers and audiences for it’s moving and poignant scenes harnessed from everyday life, by everyday people. Encompassing the most mundane daily activities to the most exhilirating and saddest experiences, the film operates with a kind of rhythm that can change mood on a dime, and can elicit a broad smile as quickly as it can have the viewer choking back the tears.
The film is broken up by a few, scattered segments that take acts such as making breakfast or washing into the realm of universal experience and identification. These segments work beautifully to ground the film as a shared experience whilst also showcasing the individuality of each person and their contribution. It offers a reminder that the world is always turning and is home to billions of stories and aspirations. Every video has a different motivation, story and meaning which all tie together to represent the countless moods and hopes that make up any person.
Life in a Day does not attempt, however, to foster a sense of awe and union without showing life in it’s entirety which, oftentimes, can be cruel, bigoted and numbing. A man, when asked what he feared the most, replied ‘. It is a disease.’ Whilst others chose, amongst other things; growing up, losing the world to global warming, god, politics, not returning home safely, not having a child, going bald, themselves, loneliness, death and god not existing. And, when asked what they loved the most, the replies included (among the obvious); football, a horse, god again, a refrigerator and a cat.
The film perfectly frames and crystallises moments that would have been mundane, were it not for the express intent of filming them in order to show the true marvel of life in action. There are plenty of moments of brutality that shock the viewer back into realising the fragility of life and our influence on other life on the planet.
One particularly distressing scene sees a cow about to be put to death with a bolt gun. It is hard to watch as the tool is lifted and the cow flops to the floor cheap five fingers shoes , taking a long time to die. It is a powerful image of life as a commodity and an example of how its intrinsic value is too often forgotten and marginalised. As well as underlining the fact that we sometimes forget that we are part of life, not a force above it, it also allows for reflection alongside the more uplifting moments and brings home the contradictory, confusing nature of life itself.
The last segment is perhaps one of the most touching of the film. A young woman sits in her car and expresses fears that would resonate with any person on the planet. She remarks that she had been waiting all day for something amazing to happen but instead she has had to work and now finds herself alone, a few minutes before midnight, to make her submission:

It just happens to be Eli, the mortician, a psychopath monster. Veteran actor Dennis Quaid plays the douchebag, asshole, nut-ball with perfection. According to executive producer as Doc Holliday in “Tombstone” In any event, Quaid is so menacing, (watch his eyes and twitching mouth) that he only has to raise his hand and you expect to see an axe in it. In fact, Quaid is so wacky that one isn’t sure whether Guigui is satirizing horror movies or just letting Quaid have fun.
Travis (Tony Oller) is our teenage geek hero. He is tormented by the memory of helplessly standing by and watching his younger sister die. That gives him a sort of “I don’t give a shit attitude,” especially about school and the track team. But he becomes curious about seeing two eerie silhouettes dancing in Eli’s upper floor bedroom. He should have minded his own business.
Abby (Aimee Teegarden) is Travis’s perky but nosey girl friend who goads Travis into taking a closer look. The plot would work well enough without her sexy teasing, but Travis has to find his groove somehow and lets Abby talk him into breaking into Eli’s house–at night. Not a very good idea. Soon both find themselves at the mercy of Eli who plans to bury both of them. Bravo to Geoff Zanelli for his nail biting musical score. It faithfully accompanies every emotion of fear and terror the audience feels or is it the music and not the scene?
I must warn you. The opening scene of “Beneath the Darkness” is so terrifying and so disturbing that you’ll want to get up and walk out. I mean, who need this? But you’ll be glad you stayed, to let director Martin Guigui take you to the edge time and time again. And you never know? You might meet a new friend, the guy or gal you’ve been grabbing next to you. In Beneath the Darkness, Ely Vaughn (Quaid) is a pillar of the community in tiny Smithville, Texas. The town’s mortician, Ely has been revered since his days as the high school’s star quarterback. But since the tragic death of his wife two years earlier, Ely has withdrawn from his neighbors, while local teens spread stories of supernatural goings on at Ely’s mansion–which is also the funeral home. When high school friends Travis (Oller), Abby (Teegarden), Brian (Lunsford) and Danny (Werkheiser) decide to check out the rumors, they are shocked to see the supposedly grieving widower dancing with a mysterious woman behind the curtains of his bedroom window. Their curiosity aroused, the four teens wait for Ely to leave the house before breaking in to investigate. But instead of finding clues to the woman’s identity, they stumble on a grotesque, long-hidden secret. The sadistic mortician next door will now stop at nothing to literally bury his past.
